A triangle teaches kids to field from their right, left, and straight ahead. It simulates game situations where the ball doesn’t always come directly at you.

What you need: 10 soft baseballs (11”), three kids in a triangle formation 15 feet apart.

Setup: Three kids stand in a triangle, each 15 feet from the other two. They all have gloves.

How to run it:

  1. Kid A rolls a grounder to Kid B straight ahead.
  2. Kid B fields using Drop, Show, Funnel, Send and rolls it to Kid C.
  3. Kid C fields and rolls to Kid A.
  4. Do 10 rounds of rolls. Then rotate so everyone plays each position.
  5. Move to 20 feet apart. Do 10 more rounds.

What to watch: On rolls to the side, do their feet move? Or do they just reach? Feet first, then hands.

If they’re struggling: Keep it at 12 feet. Roll slower. Use underhand rolls instead of ground balls.

If they’ve got it: Move to 25 feet. Add a fourth player and make a square. Roll at different speeds.
