ECNL is the standard pre-college pipeline for girls soccer in the US. Eleven months of competitive soccer per year. National league play with travel to other states. Showcase events that attract college coaches at scale.

The cost is the part parents are not prepared for. ECNL clubs typically charge $4,500 to $7,000 per year just for the team fee. Travel for the showcase weekends adds another $3,000 to $5,000. Total annual cost for ECNL is often $9,000 to $14,000. Run the cost calculator with the elite preset before you sign.

The recruiting reality is that ECNL is the watched track. College coaches use ECNL events as their primary scouting venue for women’s soccer. If your kid is a serious college prospect, ECNL or one of the other top tracks (GA, MLS Next equivalent) is essentially required.

The injury conversation matters more here than at any other level. ACL injuries in girls soccer are the most-cited injury concern in youth sports. The PEP program and FIFA 11+ warm-up reduce ACL risk by 30-50% according to the major studies. ECNL clubs that take this seriously do these warm-ups before every practice. Ask the club how they handle it.

The two-week August break is non-negotiable for year-round soccer health. Take it even if the club’s calendar doesn’t formally schedule it. The cost of skipping is real.
